Job summary

The Head of Support Functions is a key member of the Ireland Management Team, responsible for leading and coordinating a broad portfolio of support areas including Facilities, Communications, Procurement, Corporate Governance, IT, Internal Audit, Invoicing and other strategic projects for the Irish entity.

This role ensures the efficient running of operational support services, drives continuous improvement and supports the local leadership team in delivering strategic objectives aligned with both the Irish entity and the wider Group.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong organisational and project management skills, capable of operating at both strategic and operational levels.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Governance

  • Serve as a member of the Ireland Management Team, contributing to the strategic direction and overall management of the entity.
  • Oversee and coordinate governance processes, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, local regulations and risk management frameworks.
  • Support board reporting, entity management and alignment with Group governance requirements.

Facilities Management

  • Ensure efficient, safe and compliant operation of all office premises in Ireland.
  • Manage office leases, maintenance contracts, space planning and health & safety obligations.
  • Drive sustainability and workplace experience initiatives.

Procurement

  • Oversee procurement processes, vendor management and contract negotiation for local suppliers and services,
  • Ensure cost efficiency, transparency and alignment with Group procurement policies.
  • Support business teams with sourcing and procurement best practices.

Communications

  • Coordinate internal and external communications for Ireland, ensuring alignment with Group communications strategy.
  • Support leadership messaging, employee engagement and local corporate social responsibility initiatives.
  • Manage communication channels and materials for internal announcements and events.

IT Coordination

  • Act as the local liaison with Group IT to ensure effective service delivery, infrastructure support and technology projects in Ireland.
  • Oversee local IT initiatives, equipment and systems continuity.

Internal Audit & Controls

  • Coordinate local internal audit activities, ensuring timely responses to audit findings and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Strengthen internal control processes and support compliance with regulatory and group standards.

Supplementary Information

Invoicing & Financial Administration

  • Oversee the local invoicing process and related financial administration.
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness and proper documentation in collaboration with Finance teams.

Strategic Projects

  • Lead and deliver cross-functional projects that enhance efficiency, governance and service delivery across support functions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation and value creation.

Candidate criteria

Minimal education level

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Academic qualification / Speciality

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management or related discipline (Master’s degree an advantage).

Level of minimal experience

6-10 years

Experience

  • Minimum of 8+ years’ experience in a similar support or operations leadership role, ideally within a financial services or corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple support functions and leading cross-functional projects.
  • Knowledge of Irish regulatory and governance frameworks desirable.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, including interaction with senior leadership,
  • Experience working within regulated or corporate environments and familiarity with governance and risk frameworks is an advantage

  • Solid experience in budget oversight, vendor management and performance reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop teams, fostering accountability, agility, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working within regulated or corporate environments and familiarity with governance and risk frameworks is an advantage
  • Comfortable operating in a matrix or multi-site environment, managing competing priorities and deadlines
