The Technical Manager, Accounting & Reporting Services PERES Malaysia, is responsible in leading day to day operations across the department’s key initiatives, Fund Administration of PERES funds and for overseeing and assuring the disciplined execution of critical client service delivery, people, continuous improvement and risk and controls initiatives.

Supporting region: Luxembourg 
Working Hours: 9:00am – 6:00pm (Malaysia time)

 

What will you do?

  • Monitor the accurate and timely execution of agreed processes supporting the Fund Accounting functions across the range of PERES Operations structures supported by the business.
  • Review the work of other Fund Accounting administration team members in support of the ‘maker checker’ process and control functions.
  • Act as escalation point for the PERES Fund Accounting, execution of complex process and control functions, ensure high quality of allocated deliverables and providing backup relief to staff and deal with escalated issues/queries.
  • Execution of complex processes, tolerance checks and control functions for the input of any required manual entries in relation to cash and transactions, reconciliation logs, transaction working papers, and other metrics and control data.
  • Oversee and support by provide responses to queries and incoming emails, develop and maintain good working relationships with other teams to support the success of the larger team. Ensure ongoing productivity by providing back-up relief for staff who are absent or on leave with flexibility to work various shifts of home location.
  • Regularly review and improve procedures and process within the business, implement proactive monitoring to ensure effective process controls and procedures are documented in comprehensive procedures with strong governance in place.
  • Support and plan for internal audits (BORR), with strategic planning in ensuring readiness and compliance.

  • Allocate daily tasks and manage workflow efficiency, support resource and capacity planning with the Team Manager.
  • Oversee people management responsibilities when required; highlight performance and identify training and cross-exposure opportunities.
  • Execute ad-hoc tasks from Senior Management.
  • Handle escalations with financial/regulatory impact to Senior Management; oversee risk governance and compliance.
  • Ensure all audit and regulatory requirements must be clearly satisfied and key service level agreements met as evidenced through the timely and accurate completion of processes, and a deep understanding and exemplary execution of mandatory escalation processes in accordance with agreed procedures when required is essential.

Candidate criteria

Minimal education level

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Academic qualification / Speciality

  • Strong knowledge about Fund/Trust Industry and Financial Markets in general and familiarity with illiquid asset classes such as Real Estate, Private Held Equity and Private Debt.
  • Proficiency in accounting (inclusive of consolidation) with strong analytical skills.

Level of minimal experience

6-10 years

Experience

  • Understanding of operational and reputation risks inherent in the fund administration business and the management/operational control environment required in managing these risks.
  • Prior exposure to Operational Risk and the corresponding risk monitoring tools.
  • Robust fund accounting and workflow management experience.
  • Program/project management experience.

Required skills

  • Strong managerial skills, with a proven track record of managing change.
  • Demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role and to create a high-performance team.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, ability to use initiative and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal skills and networking abilities with agents and internal departments and ability to work as part of a team to achieve collective goals.

Technical skills required

  • Fund Accounting system knowledge desirable.
  • Yardi or equivalent applications.
  • Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
