As Associate Director in Custody – Tax Operations, you are responsible to build and lead our Tax Services department to ensure its smooth operations across multiple markets to deliver upon CACEIS’ strategy for a global follow the sun philosophy in delivering best in class service to our clients.

What will you do?

  • To ensure review and submit relevant tax documents and forms to our agents to ensure clients’ tax status are up to date and in adherence to market requirements  
  • To connect with the relevant tax authorities and adhere to the relevant tax guidelines and rules thereby always ensuring our clients’ full compliance to the requirements.
  • Design, implement and maintain frameworks for tracking and control of the processes surrounding the tax operations space and identify opportunities to optimize the operating model.
  • Ensures well delivery of services in line with business objectives that aligned with key metrics and organisational goals leveraging operational data in driving business decisions and team performance.
  • To engage and support our clients on relevant queries on tax matters and engage with relevant stakeholders such as account managers, client service teams and adjacent operations teams where required in a timely manner.
  • Build a high-performance team by hiring, training and developing them to deliver on overall operational goals; provide ongoing feedback and conduct formal performance reviews on a semi-annual basis; ensure Business Recovery Planning is conducted and tested on a regular basis. 
  • Working alongside peers from other locations of Global Custody, to actively contribute in ideas and influence stakeholders in shaping the strategic priorities of the global function surrounding operating model, frameworks of control and governance, and product enhancement roadmap.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate risk, conduct and compliance matter

Candidate criteria

Minimal education level

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Academic qualification / Speciality

  • Minimum 5 years of management experience working in Asset Servicing industry pertaining to Tax operations.
  • Strong understanding in Tax operations of key markets in Europe and the Americas.

Level of minimal experience

11 years and more

Experience

  • Extensive experience in leading a team of 8 or more, or record of grooming multiple junior staff in their careers.
  • Demonstrate strong accountability in the actions & deliverables of the team.
  • Strong comprehension in understanding an issue and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent command in English – ability to speak, write, converse with European stakeholders (both native and non-native English) with clear and concise communication to coordinate event between stakeholders.
  • Strong sense of urgency in dealing with every issue.
  • Strong understanding of escalation and adherence to controls.
  • Results-oriented mindset while maintaining empathetic leadership.

Required skills

 

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in Custody operations not limited to Corporate Actions, Settlements, payments and cash management.
  • Demonstrated strong emotional intelligence, professionalism, and maturity in handling conflicting issues between stakeholders and/or team members.
  • Demonstrated strong business & commercial acumen.
  • Demonstrated strong critical thinking and decision making.
